MLO Reflective Narrative:
This MLO was essential in most of my courses taken for my major. However, WLC 300 as well as Japanese 403 were the most helpful in developing skills I did not have prior to taking those courses. WLC 300 allowed for me to develop my e-portfolio, which I had never considered prior to taking this course. WLC 300 helped me meet MLO 4.3 as it helped me use a technology that is new to me in order to better collect my own scholarship and the ideas and concepts that I have learned through my courses at CSUMB. I had never considered building a website as a way to market myself and show all that I have learned in my four years at CSUMB. By keeping an online record of what I have accomplished also has allowed for me to be able to market my skills and knowledge when I began applying to graduate school. This website has also allowed for me to better catalog where I learned certain concepts and the materials that were used to teach them to me. Japanese 403 was equally helpful because it was the course taken to help me develop the skills needed for my capstone project. This course meets MLO 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3. I had never been able to find articles in Japanese prior to this course but after being shown what databases to use and how to search them, I feel much more comfortable being able to find relevant articles and information in Japanese. I also am now much more aware of how online surveys are conducted and am now able to use Google forms in order to conduct necessary surveys for projects in the future. I am also more aware of different online sources that can help when developing a comprehensive research project such as Zotero which allows for me to save sources that I need in more convenient and reliable ways. Overall, this MLO has allowed for me to not only learn how to access information that I previously would not have been able to but now I can also use technology in order to show what I have accomplished.
