Course Narrative:
This course was able to help me begin to develop the skills necessary to complete my capstone project in the spring. I was able to do this by working on several of the more essential parts of my capstone project. At the beginning of the semester we used practice assignments based off our senpai's capstones in order to develop our abilities that we would need to apply when we began our capstone project. While we worked on these practice problems in class, we always had partners and working with different partners to develop these skills allowed for me to also work on understanding how others may see an issue and how to communicate my own ideas more clearly. During the course of the semester, I also had weekly readings in a book that allowed for a rough outline for the steps that I will go through when doing my capstone. This book and the weekly presentations that were done on the chapters created a dialogue surrounding how capstone would look and broke down some of the larger concerns that I had about how to get started. Through reading a book written to help researchers write better research papers as well as through practice activities, I was able to develop a rough draft of survey questions that my group will continue to develop for our final project in the spring. The rough draft of my survey questions are an important part of this course because they are an essential part of our capstone and a part that we practiced many times using senpai's capstones. Our survey questions will be a large part of our capstone project and is becoming the part that we have had the most changes to, which we discussed in class and through the book would be a common occurrence. This course was useful for me to better understand what I will be doing for capstone as well as feel more comfortable with the skills that will be necessary for me to conduct my capstone project successfully.
